Firefighters are battling a 19-acre brush fire that erupted Thursday night, Nov. 7, on the cliffs of the Palisades Interstate Park. Visible from across the Hudson River, the blaze has turned the scenic cliffs into an intense battle zone, with flames licking at the steep, rocky terrain and sending plumes of smoke billowing into the evening sky. The body of a 19-year-old Edgewater man was recovered from the base of the cliff near Rockefeller Lookout on the Palisades Interstate Parkway after police said he was reported missing by his family on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The Palisades Interstate Parkway Police were alerted around 5 p.m. by Edgewater police after a cell phone ping traced the young man’s location to the scenic lookout point in Englewood Cliffs, PIP Police Lt.
