The arrest happened following the execution of a search warrant on Thursday, March 13, at a residence on Stonecrest Drive in New Windsor as part of a long-term investigation into the illegal possession and distribution of narcotics, the New Windsor Police Department announced on Friday, March 14.
During the search, police K-9s indicated the presence of narcotics and firearms, leading to a major seizure, the department said.
Over the course of the operation, authorities said they seized 400 grams of powdered cocaine; three AR-15-style assault rifles; multiple magazines and assorted ammunition; scales and drug packaging materials; and $3,900 in cash.
Following the search, 30-year-old Lazurus Rodriguez of New Windsor was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was held pending arraignment.
"Thanks to the hard work of our officers, including the invaluable assistance of our K-9 Unit, we have successfully disrupted a significant narcotics operation," said New Windsor Police Chief Daniel Valeri.
He continued: "The arrest of Mr. Rodriguez and the seizure of firearms and drugs are a testament to our commitment to keeping New Windsor safe."
