Brand-New Snowfall Projections: These Areas Will See Most Accumulation Updated snowfall projections have been released by the National Weather Service as a fast-moving Alberta Clipper system nears the region. The system will sweep in from west to east starting at around 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.  4, with precipitation lasting until around 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. A trace to up to nearly 2 inches of snow is possible in the interior areas in the darker shades of blue.  Farther south, including on Long Island, rain and freezing rain are predicted, with little or no accumulation. Separate Snowmaking Storms Could Mark December's Opening Weeks: Long-Range Outlook The arrival of an Arctic blast of cold air could be followed by separate snowmaking storms during the first two weeks of December. Tuesday, Dec. 3, will mark the start of a string of days in which Alberta Clipper systems with fast-falling snowfall are possible in these areas shown in pink and blue in the image above from AccuWeather. According to current forecast models, the highest likelihood for snowfall in the Northeast is overnight Wednesday, Dec. 4 into Thursday, Dec. 5, according to the National Weather Service.
