Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing On Long Island Beach It wasn’t the most ideal runway, but a pilot still managed to land their small plane safely on a Long Island beach. Emergency crews were called at around 12:15 p.m. Monday, June 24, after a single-engine Piper PA-28 plane made an emergency landing on Fire Island’s Atlantique Beach. Two people were on board and there were no reports of injuries, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
