Loved ones are mourning the loss of a former American Airlines flight attendant and dedicated philanthropist from New York whose generosity and commitment to service touched countless lives.
Eileen Clifford, 68, was shot to death by her husband, William, at the couple’s Islip home on Parsons Landing early Thursday, Feb. 20, Suffolk County Police said. Mr. Clifford, 73, then fatally shot himself, as Daily Voice reported.
Investigators had not revealed a motive for the shootings as of Friday, Feb. 21.

An arrest has been made days after 14-year-old Emmarae Gervasi was rescued from a Long Island yacht after nearly a month missing, according to her father, who made the rescue, and local police.
Emmarae "Emma" Gervasi was last seen on Terrell Street in Patchogue around 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9. Her father, Frank Gervasi, found her on a boat named The Phoenix on Jan. 3, 26 days after her disappearance, thanks to an anonymous tip, he tells Daily Voice.

Both directions of the Long Island Expressway will undergo overnight lane closures in the towns of Brookhaven, Islip, and Smithtown, beginning Tuesday night, Dec. 17.
In Brookhaven, the westbound left and HOV lanes of I-495 will close between exit 64 (State Route 112) and exit 62 (Nicholls Road) from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. the following morning, according to transportation officials.
