Newly Renovated I-87 Service Area In Hudson Valley Reopened The New York State Thruway Authority announced the reopening of a newly renovated service area in Hudson Valley. The service area in Rockland County in Sloatsburg is on I-87 northbound between Exit 15A and Exit 16.  According to the State Thruway Authority, it is the 19th location overall to open and the first of four to undergo extensive renovations as part of the $450 million private investment to redevelop and modernize all 27 service areas. Man Found In Submerged Car In Orange County Lake ID'd This story has been updated. New York State Police have identified a man who was found in a 2003 Toyota submerged in a Hudson Valley lake. The vehicle was found in Orange County around 1:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 9, in the village of Florida. According to Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police, the department's Underwater Recovery Team responded to Glenmere Lake and began recovery with the Forensics Identification Unit and the Florida Battalion Dive Team. 2-Year-Old Struck, Killed By SUV In Hudson Valley An investigation is underway after a 2-year-old girl was struck and killed by a van in the Hudson Valley. The incident occurred in Rockland County at 3:10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, on Calvert Drive in the village of Kaser in Ramapo. According to Ramapo Police Lt. Michael Gannon, responding officers found the child was struck by a 2014 Honda Odyssey and had sustained life-threatening injuries.  The girl was transported to Nyack Hospital by Hatzolah Ambulance and later died from her injuries, Gannon said. 16-Year-Old Hudson Valley Girl Stabbed By Boyfriend, Police Say A 16-year-old girl is recovering after allegedly being stabbed by her boyfriend during a fight. The incident occurred in Dutchess County on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 31 Eliza St., in Beacon. According to Beacon Police Chief Thomas Figlia, officers found the teen bleeding when they responded to a call for a woman who had been stabbed. Months-Long Closure Of Roadway In Northern Westchester Starts A months-long closure of a roadway in the region is now underway. The New York State Department of Transportation advises motorists traveling in Northern Westchester County that Illington Road will be closed at the Taconic State Parkway in the Village of Ossining. The DOT said the closure, from Monday, July 29, through Monday, Nov. 18, is to facilitate a bridge rehabilitation project, weather permitting. Motorists should follow the posted detour as an alternate. The roadway closure is necessary to facilitate the ongoing rehabilitation of key bridges in the Hudson Valley.
