Students Evaluated, Treated After Chemical Exposure At Middle School In Hudson Valley
Multiple students were treated following a chemical exposure at a Northern Westchester middle school, fire officials said. The incident happened on Friday afternoon, Nov. 15, when the incident was reported at Fox Lane Middle School in Bedford, according to the Bedford Fire Department. Arriving fire crews began isolating and ventilating the affected room while the Westchester County Hazmat team sent a representative to the scene. A wildfire spreading in the region has prompted voluntary evacuations as state and local agencies in New York work to control the blaze in the Hudson Valley. The fire, originating in Orange County near Jennings Creek and Sterling Forest, has crossed established containment lines, New York State Police said Saturday evening, Nov. 16. Car Engulfed In Flames On Parkway In Hudson Valley
A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely. The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page. No injuries were reported.

Beloved Firefighter Dies After Over 25 Years Of Service In Hudson Valley
A Hudson Valley fire department is mourning the loss of one of its active members who served his community for more than a quarter of a century. The death of Robert "Link" Linkenhoker was announced by Putnam County's Brewster Fire Department on Wednesday, Oct. 16. His age and cause of death were not made public. According to the department, Linkenhoker joined the department in 1998 and continued serving up to his death. A stretch of Interstate 84 in the Hudson Valley was temporarily closed to traffic after a car went up in flames on the shoulder. The blaze happened in Putnam County on Saturday evening, Sept. 21, when a vehicle caught on fire on Interstate 84 West in Brewster, according to the village's fire department. A driver was flown to a hospital after crashing into a swamp in the Hudson Valley. The crash happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Sept. 18 around 8:15 p.m., when a vehicle left the roadway at the intersection of Route 6 and Route 312 in Brewster and crashed down a 20-foot embankment into a swamp, according to the Brewster Fire Department. Driver Injured In 2-Car Crash In Front Of Historic Hudson Valley Manor
A two-car crash in front of a historic Northern Westchester manor-turned-museum caused injuries, firefighters said. The incident happened in Croton-on-Hudson on Saturday, Sept. 7 at around 7:20 p.m., when two vehicles collided in front of Van Cortlandt Manor on South Riverside Avenue, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department. Arriving fire crews dealt with a fluid spill from one of the cars while EMS treated a driver injured in the crash. Both vehicles were later towed away, the department said. Residents Evaluated After Bathroom Blaze Fills Hudson Valley Home With Smoke
Residents were evaluated for smoke exposure following a bathroom fire in their Hudson Valley home. The blaze happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, July 31 just before 6 a.m., when an oil burner malfunction was reported at a Mahopac home on Mountain View Drive. Everyone got out OK and no injuries were reported after the fire ignited on the first floor near the back of the Hudson Avenue home off County Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. June 14.
