39-Year-Old Man Killed In Northern Westchester Crash A man was killed in a three-vehicle crash that caused an hours-long closure on a busy Northern Westchester road, police said.  Brandon Plunkett, age 39, died in the crash on Thursday, Aug. 15 in North Castle that happened at around 3:30 p.m. on northbound Route 22 between Route 120 and Old Orchard Street, North Castle Police announced on Monday, Aug. 19.  According to the department, three vehicles were involved in the crash, including a motorcycle operated by Plunkett, who succumbed to injuries sustained in the incident.  Other drivers and passengers involved in the cr…

Man Rescued From Water Below Dam In Northern Westchester First responders had to make their way through traffic before saving a man from the water below a dam in Northern Westchester.  The rescue happened just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, when a man became trapped in the water below the Croton Dam's spillway, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department.  Officers from the Westchester County Police Department soon arrived and were able to lower a flotation device to the man as fire crews fought vehicle and pedestrian traffic to get to the scene.  Once they were able to get to the dam, the fire department lowered a swimme…

'Happy-Go-Lucky' Westchester Police Officer Killed In Crash A 23-year-old Westchester County police officer was killed in a Hudson Valley crash. The crash occurred in Orange County at approximately 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, in the town of Highlands on Route 9W northbound according to Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police. Port Chester Police Officer Christopher Bernal, who was driving a 2004 Honda motorcycle northbound on SR 9W, was killed when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, Nevel said.
