Man From Region Killed By Trooper After Pulling Gun, Police Say
A distraught man from the region who threatened self-harm was shot and killed by New York State troopers after allegedly pulling a gun. The incident occurred in Saratoga County around 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, on Route 9 in the parking lot of Bethel Saratoga in Saratoga Springs. According to New York State Trooper Stephanie O'Neil, troopers were searching for Columbia County resident James Dellea, age 48, of Hillsdale, who had threatened self-harm. One person was killed during a two-and-a-half hour span when at least five tornadoes touched down in New York State this week, the National Weather Service announced following a survey of the damage, and more confirmations could be coming. More than three decades after Pamela Ann Devizzio was found bludgeoned to death in a ditch in upstate New York, police are no closer to catching her killer. 41-Year-Old Killed After Being Struck By Multiple Vehicles In Capital Region
A man was killed after being struck by multiple vehicles on a roadway in the region. The incident happened just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, in Saratoga County on Route 146 near the intersection of Route 9 in Clifton Park. New York State Police say an investigation determined Christopher E. Merritt, age 41, of Spring Hill, Florida, was walking across the roadway, not in a crosswalk, when he was struck by two vehicles traveling eastbound.
