Capitol Police Recruit Officer From Crompond Mourned After Death In Crash At Age 22 Christopher Katz, a 22-year-old Capitol Police recruit officer and Army Reserve lieutenant from Northern Westchester, is being remembered as someone who spent his life protecting others following his death in a crash earlier this month.  Katz, a 22-year-old resident of Crompond, died on Saturday, Feb. 1, in a car crash near the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glen County, Georgia. Hudson Valley West Point Grad Awarded Rhodes Scholarship A West Point grad from the region is one of only 32 students nationwide to be awarded a Rhodes Scholarship at the University of Oxford in the fall of 2025. Orange County resident Shepherd Dzina of Tuxedo Park and three other cadets were awarded the scholarship on Saturday, Nov. 16. Dzina is an economics major currently serving as the Brigade Executive Officer at West Point, managing logistics and operations for over 4,400 cadets. Former Town Board Member, Veteran From Northern Westchester Dies A community in Northern Westchester is mourning the loss of a former Town Board member who dedicated much of his life to public service.  Yorktown resident and former Town Board member Anthony Grasso died on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at the age of 96, town officials announced on Wednesday, Aug. 14.  Born in 1927, Grasso served two years in the military and spent 18 of those months stationed in Germany at the headquarters of the 66h Medium Tank Battalion of the Second Armored Division.  He eventually returned home to Yorktown and went on to serve one term on the Town Board from 1985 t…
