750-Plus Acres Added To State Park In Hudson Valley: Provides Access To Appalachian Trail
Two several-hundred-acre land parcels have been added to a popular state park spanning two counties in the Hudson Valley, officials announced. In an announcement on Thursday, Oct. 3, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul revealed the addition of 763 acres to Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park in Putnam and Dutchess counties. The added acres will go towards meeting the state's goal of conserving 30 percent of its land and waters by 2030, Hochul said. Beloved Town Employee, Firefighter From Hudson Valley Dies At 62
A much-loved town employee from Northern Westchester who spent more than two decades serving the public as a firefighter has died. John Scott Parker, who worked as North Salem's Assistant Building Inspector and spent over 20 years with the Katonah Fire Department, died on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the age of 62 following a battle with cancer, according to his obituary. Born in Sept. 1962, Parker was known for living his life to the fullest and always seeking new challenges to solve, his obituary said.
