Severe Storm Knocks Out Power To Thousands In Westchester Tens of thousands are without power after a severe storm swept through the Northeast overnight. At around 7 a.m. Thursday, June 27, a total of around 35,000 customers in New York are without electricity, according to poweroutage.us. Most of the outages are in areas farther north with a combined 27,110 outages in Orange, Dutchess, and Ulster counties. Lost Hikers In Region Rescued By DEC Forest Ranger Forest Rangers rescued five hikers lost and suffering from heat exhaustion and lack of water on a trailhead at a state forest in the region. The incident occurred in Sullivan County at Roosa Gap State Forest in the town of Mamakating around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22. Forest rangers from the state Department of Conservation responded to a 911 call from the hikers who said they were lost and couldn't find their way back to the Cox Road trailhead in the forest, said DEC officials. Woman Dead, Man Injured During Shooting In Region Police are investigating after a woman was found shot to death in a vehicle and a man badly injured in the region. The incident occurred in Sullivan County around 12:30 a.m., Monday, May 28, outside of Building 2 of the Sleepy Hollow Apartment Complex at Terri Lane in Monticello. According to Lt. Driver Airlifted After Crashing Into School Bus In Region The driver of a minivan was airlifted following a crash with a full-size school bus in the region. The collision occurred in Sullivan County around 8:30 a.m., Monday, May 20, on Route 52 in Jeffersonville.
