A suspect has been apprehended and the identity has been released of a woman who was fatally stabbed behind a Long Island restaurant. Nassau County Police Fifth Precinct officers responded for a 911 call for a stabbing in the rear of La Candela Restaurant in West Hempstead located at 205 Hempstead Turnpike at around 12:05 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29. Upon arrival, officers located two victims: a 52-year-old woman who was stabbed multiple times and a 50-year-old man with a laceration to his hand. A 19-year-old man will spend years behind bars for a drunk driving crash that killed a young Long Island girl two days before her birthday. Jorge Bonilla Gutierrez, of Freeport, was sentenced to six to 12 years in prison in Nassau County Court on Monday, Aug. 5, in the death of Katerine Vanegas Hernandez. Bike-Riding Suspect Injures 5 Officers During Long Island Arrest, Police Say
A Long Island man is accused of injuring several police officers during an arrest. The incident happened at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, in West Hempstead. Nassau County Police said officers were called to a restaurant on Hempstead Turnpike for a disturbance involving a man and woman. A witness told police that 27-year-old Luis Taborda Corrales, got into an argument with a 26-year-old woman that escalated before he fled on a bicycle.
