Locals reported hearing thunder-like booms and rattling just after 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 16.  The USGS ruled out earthquakes, and residents across the tri-state reported witnessing fireballs to the American Meteor Society. 2 Men Dead In Separate Drownings At Long Island Homes Two men have died following separate drowning incidents in residential swimming pools on Long Island. The first incident happened at an East Northport home on Ketay Drive South shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, July 4. Suffolk County Police said John Vormbaum, age 79, was found unresponsive in a pool. An officer performed CPR, but Vormbaum was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital.
