Hudson Valley Man Nabbed For Attempted Murder In Stabbing Incident, Police Say
A person residing in the region was nabbed for alleged attempted murder in a stabbing incident that seriously wounded another man.
The attack occurred in Dutchess County at 1 a.m. Sunday, June 30, in the area of Smith and Mansion Streets in Poughkeepsie.
According to the Poughkeepsie Police, on Thursday, Oct. 17, members of the Neighborhood Recovery Unit, Detective Bureau, and Patrol Division located and arrested Rushaan Francis, age 27, of Poughkeepsie, in connection with the June 30 stabbing.

Rockland County Mother Nabbed For Beating Kids With Foam Baseball Bat, Police Say
A Hudson Valley mother has been charged with allegedly beating her two children with a foam baseball bat, causing injuries.
The incident occurred in Rockland County around 2:20 a.m., Monday, Oct. 7, in Stony Point.
According to Lt. Daniel Schoales of the Stony Point Police, officers responded to Nyack Hospital to investigate a domestic incident.
The investigation revealed that two juveniles revealed that their mother, Kimberly Rivas, age 33, of Stony, had used a foam baseball bat to strike both juveniles several times, causing injuries, Schoales said.

A man is facing 20 years in prison after being found guilty of assaulting his girlfriend with a belt, severely wounding her in front of two toddlers in the region.
Dutchess County resident Javan McMillon, age 28, of Poughkeepsie, was convicted by a jury on Tuesday, Oct. 8, following two days of deliberations, said Dutchess County District Attorney Office Anthony Parisi.
The attack occurred on Saturday, March 9, on Bement Ave., in the city of Poughkeepsie, when McMillon repeatedly struck his girlfriend with a leather belt, causing substantial pain and bruising, the DA's office said.

A Hudson Valley man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for killing another man, plus an additional one to four years for tampering with evidence.
Ulster County resident Joseph Karolys, age 39, of Saugerties, was sentenced to 25 years on Thursday, Oct. 3, for the Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, killing of David "Mickey" Myer, also of Saugerties, said Ulster County District Attorney Emmanuel C. Nneji.

Two Hudson Valley men have been charged in connection with an assault.
The incident occurred in Orange County, in the municipal parking lot of the Newburgh Free Library, 124 Grand St., on Sunday, May 19.
According to City of Newburgh Chief of Staff Mike Neppl, detectives arrested Marcos Luna-Dedios, a 34-year-old City of Newburgh resident, on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Last week, on Wednesday, Sept. 4, Yomar Carreras, age 24, of Newburgh, was the second person arrested in connection with the attack, Neppl said.
