Wind gusts will reach 40 to 50 mph across the Northeast on Wednesday, March 5, with stronger gusts up to 60 mph along the Jersey Shore, and in eastern Maryland and Virginia.
"The winds in association with the storm can become strong enough to cause widespread travel disruptions," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Elizabeth Danco. "They also can knock over trees and bring down power lines across the eastern two-thirds of the nation through Wednesday night."
The heaviest rain from the storm will be in locations farther north where up to 2 inches could fall from the time the storm arrives Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.
During this time, there will be scattered, potentially strong thunderstorms.
The storm unleashed rain and snow throughout California over the weekend, and is en route to the Rockies on Monday, March 3.
After the storm moves out, it will be partly sunny on Thursday, March 6 with high temperatures climbing into the 50s.
