Tributes are flooding in after a car crash claimed the lives of a beloved Long Island business owner and her fiancé. Kaitlyn McCready, 36, of Smithtown and Luis Rivera, 41, of Hauppauge, were both killed in a wreck Thursday, Dec. 12, while returning to New York, according to her obituary. Scheduled roadwork may slow you down this week. Both directions of the Long Island Expressway will undergo overnight lane closures in the towns of Brookhaven, Islip, and Smithtown, beginning Tuesday night, Dec. 17. A Suffolk County man has been arrested and charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian last week, authorities announced Wednesday, Dec. 4. Seth Miller, 40, of Smithtown, was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident with a Fatality in the Nov. 27 crash in Bohemia that killed Joan Foley, 59, of Central Islip, Suffolk County police said.
