A 48-year-old member of a police department in Westchester has died suddenly. The detective, a 16-year veteran with the Yonkers PD, died on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 19 in New York City after he apparently suffered a medical event while operating a motor vehicle in New York City, according to preliminary indications, the department announced Monday morning, Feb. 20. A suspect is on the run after allegedly shooting another man during a dispute in Westchester. The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1 in Yonkers, in the area of Mill Street. According to Yonkers PD Det. Lt. Dean Politopoulos, two men were engaged in an apparent dispute when the suspect fired several shots at the victim, striking him two times in the upper body. Woman Hit In Head With Hammer Near Westchester ShopRite
A woman is recovering after being hit in the head with a hammer by another woman in Westchester. The incident took place in Yonkers around 4:20 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, near the ShopRite at 25 Prospect Street. According to Yonkers PD Det. Lt. Dean Politopoulos, a woman approached another woman from behind and struck her in the head with a ball-peen hammer. A man was shot and a police officer injured during an alleged suicide-by-cop confrontation in an apartment building in Westchester County, authorities said. The incident took place around 12:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 17 in Yonkers. Five Yonkers PD officers responded to an apartment building at 52 Main St. for a 911 report of a man waving a gun on the third floor threatening people, Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller said. Several police officers are recovering after being exposed to an unidentified drug or chemical while making an arrest over the weekend in Westchester. The incident took place during the evening on Friday, May 7, in Yonkers.
