Poughkeepsie Fire Leaves 24 Homeless, Injures 2 At least two residential buildings were destroyed during a two-alarm fire in the Hudson Valley that left 24 people homeless. The incident occurred in Orange County at 11:20 p.m. on Monday, April 8, at 59 and 61 Carter St., in the city of Newburgh. According to Mike Neppl, a spokesman for the Newburgh Fire Department, arriving units found the rear of 59 and 61 Carter Street fully involved with fire, which was spreading to the interior of the buildings.  Neppl said crews stretched handlines into the interior and began bringing the fire down and searching for hidden fire. Construction Worker Seriously Injured After 20-Foot Fall In Hudson Valley A construction worker was seriously injured after falling from a second-floor roof to the first floor.  The incident took place in Orange County around 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 25 in the town of Highland Falls on Owens Farm Road. According to the Highland Falls Police Chief Frank Basile, a construction worker was working on a second-floor roof when he fell 20 to 30 feet to the first-floor roof area. Six Injured In Two-Alarm Fire At Multi-Family Area Home An early morning two-alarm fire in a multi-family home in the area left six injured, fire officials said. Fire crews responded to a Newburgh home on First Street at approximately 6:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, where there were reports of a fire raging in an area residence, officials said. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames shooting out of the structure, with smoke billowing through the air.
