Hudson Valley Man Makes Off With $1K In Goods From Store, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man made off with more than $1,000 after allegedly breaking into a store.
The burglary took place in Ulster County on Monday, March 6 in the town of Ulster.
Scott A. Nussbaum, age 52, of Kingston was arrested on Monday, March 13, after the town of Ulster police responded to the Skywalker Smoke Shop at 1082 Morton Blvd., said Ulster Police Chief Kyle Berardi.
As a result of an investigation by Ulster Police detectives, Nussbaum was found to have forcibly entered the business and stolen over $1,000 in merchandise, the chief said.

Man Nabbed For DWI With Child In Car After I-87 Stop In Hudson Valley, State Police Say
A routine traffic stop turned into a DWI arrest after the driver was allegedly found to be intoxicated while driving with his 12-year-old child.
The incident took place in Ulster County on I-87 around 11:20 p.m., Monday, Dec. 26, in the town of Ulster.
According to New York State Police, troopers stopped Jesus Lantigua, age 39, of the Bronx, for multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
During the stop, Rodriguez was found to be intoxicated while traveling with his 12-year-old child, state police said.

Man Who Tried To Jump From Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge Arrested For Murder, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man who had attempted to jump from a bridge has been arrested for allegedly killing a woman whose body was found in a wooded area.
Johnny Amaro, age 49, of the town of Ulster, was arrested and charged with felony murder around 11:45 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1.
According to Chief Kyle Berardi, of the Ulster Police Department, on Thursday around 8:20 a.m., officers were notified of a dead woman in a wooded area off the Eastern Parkway in the town of Ulster.
As a result of an investigation, the woman was found to be a victim of homicide, the chief said.

Potent Storm Knocks Out Power To Tens Of Thousands In Parts Of Hudson Valley
Thousands of customers in parts of the Hudson Valley lost power after a powerful storm moved through the region.
More than 21,000 customers were left in the dark when the potent storm brought strong wind gusts and heavy rain to central and northern Ulster County just after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, according to Central Hudson.
Central Hudson said most of the outages were located in Kingston, Marbletown, Hurley, Esopus, and Ulster.
As of 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, about 10,000 customers remained without service, Central Hudson said.

There is no relief in sight for motorists in New York as prices at the pump continue to rise to new record highs, according to AAA.
As of Monday, May 16, AAA was reporting that the average price per gallon has risen to $4.76 in New York, setting another new record after peaking at $4.52 a week prior, the previous high.
Diesel gas is also on the rise, up to $6.50 as of Sunday, May 15, also a new record in New York.

Gas prices in New York have reached a new record high as the country deals with rising oil prices and nationwide inflation amid tensions overseas.
On Monday, May 9, AAA was reporting that the average price per regular gallon of gas in New York has hit $4.52, the highest recorded average price in history.
Likewise, truck drivers are also seeking relief at the pump, as the price of diesel fuel price also set a record on May 9 when it hit $6.38 per gallon.
In New York, the price per gallon is up 17 cents from a week ago, 28 cents from a month ago, and $1.51 from May 9, 2021.
