Convicted Killer Of Hudson Valley Teen Released On Parole
One of two men convicted of killing a Hudson Valley teenager decades ago has been released on parole for the second time. Richard Labarbera, 67, who was convicted of killing Pearl River 16-year-old Paula Bohovesky in 1980, has been released from prison. He had been previously released last year, but violated his parole after getting drunk shortly after his release and he was sent back behind bars. Paroled Killer Of 16-Year-Old Ordered To Stay Away From Rockland As Pataki Appeals To Cuomo
One of the two men convicted of killing Pearl River 16-year-old Paula Bohovesky in 1980 who was granted parole has been ordered to stay clear of Rockland County and has been banished to upstate New York. The New York Attorney General’s Office told a judge that Richard LaBarbera has been reassigned to a parole officer in Buffalo when he is released from prison this week. LaBarbera was also ordered to steer clear of Bohovesky’s mother, Lois. Initially, LaBarbera was to be assigned to a parole officer in Peekskill. Convicted Murderer Of Rockland County 16-Year-Old Granted Parole
One of the two drifters who attacked and brutally killed a 16-year-old honor student from Rockland County will soon be a free man. In October 1980, Richard LaBarbera and Robert McCain attacked 16-year-old Paula Bohovesky, an honor student who was picked up off the street a few blocks from her Pearl River home. Sloatsburg Attorney Gets Probation For Ticket/Zoning Fixing
A Rockland County lawyer was sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to one count of official misconduct for fixing traffic tickets and zoning violations. Lawrence Weissman, 56, of Sloatsburg, was sentenced Friday following his guilty plea, said Rockland District Attorney Thomas Zugibe. Weissman, an attorney with offices in West Nyack, was appointed as special prosecutor by the Village of Spring Valley Board of Trustees in 2016. Rockland Will Get $314K Grant For Substance Abuse, Mental Health
U.S. Nita Lowey, who represents Rockland and Westchester counties, announced on Tuesday, June 5 that BRiDGES, a nonprofit in New City that advocates for and serves people with disabilities, has been awarded $314,215 in federal funding. The taxpayer money will help expand and increase recovery services for individuals with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mental illness who are re-entering society after prison. Rockland District Attorney Thomas Zugibe would love to wrap up his career as a judge on the state Supreme Court, and announced Thursday that's just what he plans to do.
