IDs Released As Bodies Of Father, Son Who Went Missing While Rafting Located
The bodies of the father and son who went missing early Saturday morning while rafting on a river in the Hudson Valley have been located and identified. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, two juveniles were rafting under adult supervision on the Neversink River, located north of I-84 and west of Route 17 in Orange County. As the two returned to shore, an adult male saw one of the juveniles fall out of the raft and dove in to rescue him. Route 17 Lane Closures Will Last For Days
There will be delays for several days on Route 17 in Orange County as crews begin overnight construction activity in the area. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., beginning on Monday, Aug. 20, there will be overnight closures in both directions on Route 17 in Woodbury, near exit 131. The work is expected to last through Friday, Aug. 24. Officials said that lane closures could result in onsite detours, and motorists can expect delays in the area. Tractor-Trailer Tips At Treacherous Stretch Of Route 17 Near NY Border In Mahwah
UPDATE: Three lanes of northbound Route 17 near the Route 287 ramp at the New York border in Mahwah were closed Thursday morning after a tractor-trailer tipped. Detours were being set up following the mishap, which occurred just after 10 a.m., Police Chief James N. Batelli said. The driver escaped unharmed, he said. The site eventually was cleared and normal traffic resumed after noon.

Mahwah PD: EMS Worker Fired Over KKK Incident Nabbed With Loaded Gun
A security guard at a Route 17 truck stop was carrying a loaded handgun and wearing clothing that suggested he was a police officer, said Mahwah police who arrested him. The defendant, 58-year-old Timothy M. Prahm of Secaucus, was one of three UMDNJ paramedics fired in 2008 after photos surfaced of them dressed as members of the KKK and holding a large wooden cross. Traffic Jam, Power Outage: SUV Slams Into Route 17 Utility Pole In Ramsey
A driver was hospitalized with a head injury after his SUV slammed into a utility pole early Friday evening on Route 17 in Ramsey. Downed power lines fell in front of and behind a Federal Express tractor-trailer, further thickening area traffic near Spring Street and knocking out power to some area customers. Ramsey police, EMS and Rescue Squad squad members responded, along with an Orange & Rockland Electric crew. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked SUV. Boyd A. Loving contributed to this report.

U.S. Navy Fighter Jets Rattle Bergen County
If you heard three alarmingly loud planes fly over your house around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, you weren't the only one. It wasn't clear where they came from or where they're headed, but the trio of U.S. Navy fighter jets touched down at Teterboro Airport. Dozens of Bergen County residents in Maywood, Paramus, Emerson, Hackensack and elsewhere asked one another whether those were, in fact, fighter jets screaming over their homes. Motorists planning on traveling on Route 17 in Orange County next week may want to seek alternate routes as contracting crews prepare to perform maintenance activity in Goshen. Police from several Northwest Bergen towns thwarted a potentially dangerous incident Wednesday when they closed off a stretch of northbound Route 17 to stop a heroin-addled driver from Rockland whose car bounced off the center divider several times, authorities said.
