100 Deadliest Days Campaign Focuses On Dangers Of Distracted Teen Driving
With Memorial Day in the rearview mirror, AAA is cautioning that the holiday kicked off the “100 Deadliest Days” for teen drivers on area roadways. Over the past five years, nearly 3,500 people have been killed in crashes involving teen drivers during the 100 Deadliest Days - the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day - when the number of crash fatalities involving a teen driver historically rise. Missing Just 1-2 Hours Sleep Nearly Doubles Crash Risk, AAA Warns
We all know the dangers of drowsy driving, but a new study from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, a nonprofit research and education association, has shown that the hour or two of sleep you missed last night could have a bigger impact on your crash risk than previously thought. The research report was recently reissued in advance of daylight savings time after its initial 2016 release. Former Poughkeepsie HS Football Player Killed Helping Crash Victim
A 28-year-old former high school football player was killed while helping victims of a crash on the Cross Bronx Expressway. Jaquan Cesar, a Beacon resident and Poughkeepsie High School graduate, was killed around 1:15 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, at the scene of a multiple-vehicle crash on the expressway near Webster Avenue, said the NYPD. Parts of Rockland are without power this morning following high winds Monday night that knocked down trees and utility lines. A 35-year-old man was killed while attempting to escape police after losing control of his vehicle and slamming into an unoccupied house.According to Middletown Police, the incident took place around 12:53 a.m. Thursday when an officer saw a black 2000 Lexus GS 300 commit a traffic infraction in the area of Cottage Street and Railroad Avenue, the department said in a release. Deer Crashes Through Woman's Windshield In Fairfield County
A female motorist had a very scary moment when a deer crashed through the windshield of her car in Fairfield County on Friday morning, June 8, state police said. The incident occurred on Route 8 in Trumbull when the deer ran onto the highway in front of the car shown above as the woman was driving southbound near exit 8.
