In preparation for SantaCon 2024, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced a 32-hour alcohol ban across all Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and Metro-North Railroad trains and stations. Train Hits Car In With Four Inside In Northern Westchester, Causing Lengthy Metro-North Delays
This story has been updated. A Honda Civic with four people inside was hit by a train in the Hudson Valley, causing delays of more than an hour on Metro-North service in the area. The incident took place around 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, at the Hudson Avenue crossing in Peekskill, said Lt. Jack Galusha with the Peekskill Police. The vehicle which was on the track was struck by the passing Amtrak train. No one was injured in the vehicle or on the train, Galusha said. "It's amazing no one was injured," he added. 19: New Northern Westchester County Pop-Up Vaccination Site To Open
In an effort to bolster the number of New Yorkers who are getting the COVID-19 vaccination, new temporary pop-up sites are being set up at MTA stations across the state. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Monday, May 10 that eight new pop-up COVID-19 vaccination sites will be set up in New York City, Long Island, and Hudson Valley, serving up to 300 walk-in appointments per day.
