Covid-19: Hudson Valley Sees 1,200-Plus New Cases; Latest Data, Including Positive-Test Rate
More than 1,200 new COVID-19 were reported in the Hudson Valley as the region’s positive infection rate continues to rise.
On Monday, Dec. 14, a total of 1,219 new COVID-19 cases were being reported in the mid-Hudson region, which continues contending with the second wave of new COVID-19 cases.
The number of new cases in the Hudson Valley, by county, according to the state Department of Health on Tuesday, Dec. 15:
Westchester: 560;
Dutchess: 192;
Rockland: 151;
Orange: 136;
Ulster: 92;
Putnam: 74;

The Hudson Valley saw the positive rate for COVID-19 testing increase a day after it spiked a full percentage point, according to data released by the state on Saturday, Dec. 5.
The positive testing rate in all focus areas under the state's Micro-Cluster strategy is 6.17 percent, and outside the focus zone areas is 4.59 percent.
Within the focus areas, 54,956 test results were reported Friday, Dec. 4, yielding 3,389 positives. In the remainder of the state, not counting these focus areas, 160,445 test results were reported, yielding 7,372 positives.

The Hudson Valley saw the positive rate for COVID-19 testing spike a full percentage point, according to data released by the state on Friday, Dec. 4.
The positive testing rate in all focus areas under New York State's Micro-Cluster strategy is 7.35 percent, and outside the focus zone areas is 4.79 percent.
Within the focus areas, 50,367 test results were reported Thursday, Dec. 3, yielding 3,701 positives.

New York is now at a "new phase" during the nine-month COVID-19 pandemic with the state recording its highest positive-test rate since mid-May, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Sunday, Nov. 29.

The Hudson Valley saw another new increase in the COVID-19 positive rate for testing, according to data released by New York State on Saturday, Nov. 28.
The positive testing rate in all focus areas under the state's Micro-Cluster strategy is 5.65 percent, and outside the focus zone areas is 3.45 percent.
Within the focus areas, 36,745 test results were reported Friday, Nov. 27, yielding 2,076 positives.
