An area man has been arrested for criminal possession of a weapon after being shot by police when he allegedly threatened them with a knife.
Dutchess County resident Michael Becerril, age 29, of Fishkill, was charged on Tuesday, March 8, by New York State Police.

ID Released For Man Shot, Killed In Officer-Involved Shooting In Area
A man killed in an officer-involved shooting in the Hudson Valley has been identified.
Christopher VanKleeck, age 31, was shot around 3:30 p.m., June 12, in Orange County by a Wallkill police officer following a call for a disturbance, according to Attorney General Letisha James' office.
VanKleeck was shot and killed following a confrontation with officers, said Town of Wallkill Police Chief Robert Hertman.
"During an ensuing encounter with a suspect, a Town of Wallkill police officer discharged his service weapon, striking the subject at least once," Hertman said.

New York State Police are asking the public and the driver of a commercial vehicle for help with information regarding an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead.
Luke H. Patterson, 41, of Tannersville, was shot and killed by a state trooper after being stopped walking along I-84 around 12:55 a.m., Thursday, May 23, in the town of Montgomery.

A man shot and killed by a New York State Trooper while walking along I-84 in Orange County has been identified.
Luke H. Patterson, 41, of Tannersville in Greene County, was shot around 2 a.m., Thursday, May 23, when he allegedly attempted to get inside a state police vehicle while being questioned, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel.
Patterson was killed when state police originally responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on I-84 in the town of Montgomery near exit 5A, said Nevel.
