Total Solar Eclipse NY Travel Advisory: Arrive Early, Plan On Staying Late, Hochul Says
In preparation for a high volume of traffic and visitors for the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is advising travelers to arrive to their destinations early and plan on staying late.
In addition, Hochul said on Sunday, April 7, travelers should allow for extra time, monitor the weather forecast before getting on the road, and pack plenty of water and snacks for the trip.
Additionally, drivers should never pull over on the side of the road to view the eclipse to ensure first responders can get by in an emergency.

The total solar eclipse, slotted to occur on Monday, April 8, will follow a path of totality across just 15 states on the eastern side of the United States, including much of western and upstate New York.

Ahead of an upcoming storm system expected to last several nights, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is urging residents across the state to prepare for snow, heavy rains, power outages, and flooding.
According to the latest predictions, the storm is expected to arrive in the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, and Long Island on Tuesday, April 2, and continue through Thursday night, April 4, bringing poor travel conditions and likely power outages along with it, Hochul announced.
