New $5M Roundabout Hopes To Smooth Traffic On Busy Hudson Valley Roadway
Motorists will find a new roundabout in the Hudson Valley that is meant to make traffic flow smoother to and from Route 376. The roundabout, located in Dutchess County, in the town of Wappinger, has been completed as part of a $5.8 million project that modernized the intersection of Route 376 with New Hackensack Road and All Angels Hill Road, according to the state Department of Transportation. Two major bridge upgrade projects totaling $60.5 million in the Hudson Valley have been successfully completed. Not so fast. New York State Police troopers going undercover as construction workers in work zones dished out dozens of tickets for various violations during a special “Operation Hardhat” detail. Not so fast. New York State Police troopers going undercover as construction workers in work zones dished out nearly 2,000 tickets for various violations during a special “Operation Hardhat” detail. Beginning in July and stretching through November, State Police teamed with the New York State Department of Transportation and Thruway Authority to crack down on work zone violations and encourage safer driving. New York State Police troopers went deep undercover, posing as construction workers, handing out more than 100 tickets to motorists during “Operation Hardhat.” Over the weekend, troopers teamed with the New York State Department of Transportation for the special detail, dishing out a total of 112 tickets to speedsters and distracted drivers on numerous highway work zones. Orange County’s construction project to replace or rehabilitate seven bridges has officially begun as of Thursday, August 1, according to New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez.
