Man Gives Fake ID After Shoplifting At Mall, Police Say
A 25-year-old man who gave officers a fake name after shoplifting has been charged, police say.
Officers with the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department say they received a larceny complaint at J.C. Penney in Galleria Mall (2001 South Road) on Friday, June 28.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as Dominique Hobbs, 25, of Newburgh, had fled the business on foot after stealing clothing, police say.
Officers canvassed the area and located Hobbs. He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit, police say.

Year-Long Investigation Leads To Auto Theft Charge For Area Man
A Pleasant Valley man was arrested for alleged auto theft following a yearlong investigation into the incident.
Matthew R. Mcclay, 22, was charged Friday, June 14, in connection with the incident that allegedly took place in April 2018, said Rhinebeck Police Sgt. Peter Dunn.
Mcclay was charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, forgery of a vehicle ID number, auto stripping and unauthorized use of a vehicle, Dunn said.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $1,500 cash bail. Mcclay is scheduled to appear in court on July 10.
Police: Couple Working As Caretakers Accused Of Stealing More Than $50K From Rhinebeck Victims
A couple working as caretakers has been charged after police say they stole more than $50,000 from victims in Rhinebeck.
New York State Police say that Shelby Blanchard, 32, and Alan Blanchard, 35, both of Red Hook, were allegedly employed by the victims in a caretaking capacity and used their positions to gain access to their personal and financial accounts.
Over the course of two years, the Blanchards stole more than $50,000 using bank/credit cards, personal checks and ATM withdrawals from the victims’ accounts, according to police.

Three people are facing charges after a traffic stop near the Palisades Parkway led to the discovery of drugs, police say.
New York State Police in Haverstraw conducted a traffic stop on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Orangeburg on Thursday, March 14.
Further investigation led to the discovery of crack cocaine, Xanax, Ketamine and marijuana in the vehicle, police said.

Duo, Including Westchester Man, Caught With 30 Pounds Of Pot In Traffic Stop, Police Say
Two men, one from Westchester County, were arrested and face multiple charges after police allegedly discovered approximately 30 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Orange County.
Marlon D. Moore, 38, of the Bronx, was driving with passenger Carey R. Nelson, 39, of Mount Vernon when State Police conducted a traffic stop on I-87 in the town of Woodbury around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
During the interview with Moore, police established probable cause to conduct a search. Police then discovered approximately 30 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle and took both men into custody.
