Mahopac Brush Fire Sandwiched On Tree Line Threatens Home
Mahopac firefighters spent several hours battling a fire located behind a home on Shinaya Court located near a heavily wooded tree line. The call for the fire came in around 3 p.m. Wednesday with the department responding within minutes, Chief Bill Nikisher was quick to call for reinforcements. Pilot Killed When Plane Crashes At Former Theme Park In West Milford
WEST MILFORD, N.J. – The pilot died in a small plane crash that ignited a fire Wednesday afternoon in a wooded area of West Milford that was once part of the former Jungle Habitat theme park, authorities confirmed. The single-engine Piper PA-32 aircraft crashed after leaving nearby Greenwood Lake Airport around 2:30 p.m., the FAA reported. The lone-occupant pilot wasn't immediately identified. Brush Fire Burns 20 Acres In Arlington
One firefighter was slightly injured and more than 30 firefighters battled a brush fire that burned more than 20 acres near Van Wagner Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie, according to Arlington Fire Chief Tory Gallante. Arlington firefighters responded to the fire around 5 p.m. Saturday for a report of black smoke from the woods behind the home at 342 Van Wagner Road, Gallante said. Firefighters Douse Blaze At Waldwick Auto Repair Shop
WALDWICK, N.J. -- Firefighters quickly put down a blaze at a Waldwick auto repair shop late Tuesday afternoon. The two-alarm blaze broke out at J & J Auto Maintenance on Hopper Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Firefighters quickly had it under control. Westchester Native ID'd As Victim Of Four-Alarm Fire At Trump Tower
The man who was killed when a raging fire broke out in his apartment on the 50th floor of Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan early Saturday evening has been identified as a Westchester native. HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- This month, the village of Haverstraw is commemorating the 112th anniversary of the Haverstraw Landslide. Nineteen people, including four firefighters, lost their lives in the tragedy, which occurred on Jan. 8. Four-Alarm Blaze Breaks Out At Bowling Alley In Orange County
It took hours for firefighters from numerous companies to contain a four-alarm blaze that broke out Saturday afternoon at a bowling alley in Port Jervis. During the fire which broke out around 3 p.m. at Minisink Lanes on Route 209 in the hamlet of Huguenot, flames burst through the roof of the one-story structure as firefighters from more than 15 companies went to work. Mahwah Homeowner, 71, Charged With Setting Foreclosure Fire
MAHWAH, N.J. -- A 71-year-old Mahwah man was charged with torching his foreclosed house. Everett Nathaniel Johnson was being held in the Bergen County Jail Friday, charged with aggravated arson with the knowledge of "danger of death or bodily injury" in Thursday night's Marion Drive fire, records show.
