Vacant Restaurant Damaged In Overnight Fire
A vacant restaurant that was slated for renovation was heavily damaged during an early-morning fire. The call for the fire at the former Cozzy's Place restaurant at 256 Hooker Ave., came in about 2:20 a.m., Tuesday, July 2 said City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson. The first firefighters on the scene found fire on the upper floor of the two-and-half-story building. "They (the firefighters) attacked the fire from the second floor to access the attic area where the fire was located," the chief said. House Fire Breaks Out In Spring Valley
An abandoned home with no utilities suffered major damage during a fire early Friday. The fire was noticed by a Spring Valley police officer around 2:30 am. Friday at 35 S. Madison Ave., said Gordon Wren, the Rockland County fire coordinator. Spring Valley firefighters arrived on scene quickly and were backed up with help from Nyack and Nanuet, he said.
