These Hudson Valley Counties Among Top 10 In State For Deer-Vehicle Crashes, AAA Says Areas in the Hudson Valley are experiencing record numbers of deer-vehicle collisions, according to AAA Northeast. According to the New York State Department of Transportation, an average of 65,000 deer-related accidents take place within the state per year, a majority taking place during the animal's mating season in October through November. Deer Crashes Through Woman's Windshield In Fairfield County A female motorist had a very scary moment when a deer crashed through the windshield of her car in Fairfield County on Friday morning, June 8, state police said. The incident occurred on Route 8 in Trumbull when the deer ran onto the highway in front of the car shown above as the woman was driving southbound near exit 8. After the deer was struck, it went through the windshield into the car. Luckily the operator was able to keep control of her car and pull to the right shoulder, police said.
