A New York man will spend nearly three years in federal prison for assaulting a police officer while trying to breach the US Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021. Two members of the far-right Proud Boys group from New York, including a Hudson Valley resident, are the first people involved in the deadly pro-Trump rampage on the United States Capitol to face federal conspiracy charges. One of the Capitol rioters who dragged a police officer down the stairs is recovering at the Westchester Medical Center after attempting to commit suicide, according to reports.
