Brush Fire Burns 20 Acres In Arlington One firefighter was slightly injured and more than 30 firefighters battled a brush fire that burned more than 20 acres near Van Wagner Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie, according to Arlington Fire Chief Tory Gallante. Arlington firefighters responded to the fire around 5 p.m. Saturday for a report of black smoke from the woods behind the home at 342 Van Wagner Road, Gallante said. The first fire department unit arrived on the scene within five minutes of the initial call and found about 10 acres on fire, which with the wind, grew to about 15 to 20 acres. Fire Breaks Out In Poughkeepsie Duplex Five adults and four children were left homeless after a fire ripped through a two-story duplex in the City of Poughkeepsie. The fire, which started around 6:10 p.m. Monday, at 64 Talmadge St., began on the second-floor of the four-unit building, said City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson. When crews arrived on scene they could see flames and smoke coming from the second-floor windows, he said. All of the residents were able to self-evacuate as firefighters arrived, he said. The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department announced the arrest of Hyde Park resident Michael Kazimer, 52, on Monday, who was allegedly involved in the domestic dispute in Poughkeepsie on Friday night.
