Ramapo Police Help Rescue Raptor Following Sunday Swan Save
Members of the Ramapo Police Department continue showcasing their multitude of talents, proving that officers are adept at helping every member of the community. For the second time this week, officers offered an assist to an injured bird in the area, following their swan save on Sunday night after the animal had been struck by a car and broke its leg. On Monday, officers offered wildlife experts a hand in capturing a raptor, which had suffered a broken wing from an unknown incident. Coyote Attack On Sheep Reported At Muscoot Farm
County officials said a coyote may have killed a sheep at Muscoot Farm in Somers and injured two others on Thursday. The sheep were found when employees to perform morning farm chores Thursday and noticed a sheep lying in the field and two others limping, said Alexis Joondeph-Breidbart, a spokeswoman for Westchester County. Muscoot Farm is an early 20th-century interpretative farm museum that is owned and operated by the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation. New NY Law Looks To Help Reunite Lost Pets With Owners
Lost pets may soon be a thing of the past in New York. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill into law this week that will require found pets to be checked for microchips within 24 hours of being picked up on local streets. The law will require animal shelters and rescue groups that take in lost animals to check if a found pet has a chip or other identifying information that may help them reunite with their family. A list of rules and regulations are also being developed by the Department of Agriculture and Markets to help standardize microchip technology in pets in New York. According…
