Mia Toi Hood, 33, was arrested Thursday for the theft which took place on March 3 at an apartment in the Mason Ridge Apartment complex, said Det. Sgt. Chris Sager.

A resident had reported that an unknown person had entered his apartment and stole a water jug full of assorted coins. Detectives initiated an investigation, which led to the identification of Hood, who lived in the same building, Sager said.

Hood was observed on video entering the victim’s apartment. During a subsequent interview, by NWPD Detectives, she admitted to entering the apartment, through an unlocked door and stealing the jug of change. Detectives were then able to recover the jug, from the suspect’s apartment, including what was left of the assorted coins, he added.

Hood was charged with burglary and petit larceny. She is being held at the Orange County Jail on $1,000 cash bail/$10,000 bond.
