The crash occurred around 5 p.m. Thursday in the Town of Newburgh at the intersection of Fostertown Road and New Road when the driver of the SUV either ran the stop sign or failed to yield the right away to the bus, the police told the Times Herald-Record. Police said the force of the crash smashed the SUV into a tree.
Once extricated, the woman was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla in critical condition, the report said.
The SUV driver is being treated at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Several bus passengers were also transported to a local hospital. The driver of the bus was not injured, said the Times-Herald.
