The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Orange County residents regarding the residency of 25-year-old Steven Linares, who has moved to an address on Ann Street in Newburgh.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Linares as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense."

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Linares had sexual intercourse and contact with his 14-year-old victim in Middletown in December 2011, and he was convicted of second-degree rape of a person under the age of 18 in February the following year. Linares was sentenced to two years in state prison and is now under the jurisdiction of the Newburgh City Police Department.
