Stewart Terrace, a community that is tied closely to the base, lowered flags that hung on front porches, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.
Marine Sgt. Julian Kevianne, 31, was one of the Marines identified in the crash. The names of the other victims will be released pending notification of families, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.
The nine victims from the Newburgh crew were part of the Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 452, nicknamed the Yankees, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.
Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus said the bodies would be flown back to Stewart after first being taken to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
