Baby Zachary Heil was killed in August 2016 when he sustained massive head trauma. A 10-day trial revealed social media posts and text messages from Michael Heil that showed his growing frustrations. Testimony from medical experts said the baby's injuries could only be sustained through child abuse.

In the end, a jury found Michael Heil guilty on two counts of murder and one count each of first and second-degree manslaughter, the Times Herald-Record said.

At his sentencing, Michael Heil maintained his innocence, the Record reported.
