28-Year-Old ID'd After Fatal Long Island Crash A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Long Island. The incident happened in Southampton, south of County Road 51 and Speonk Riverhead Road, at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9. Southampton Town Police said a motorcyclist was going southbound on County Road 51 when he crashed into a wooded area. Emergency crews found the victim, 28-year-old Rafael Andre Penalas, of Bayport, unconscious. He was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The incident happened in Islip, on the eastbound Southern State Parkway exit 43A, just before 2 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1. New York State Police said troopers arrived to find a Toyota Prius overturned and resting on the shoulder in the tree line. Fatal Crash: 51-Year-Old ID'd As Victim After Corvette Slams Into Tree In Deer Park One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on a Long Island roadway. It happened around 7:15 a.m. Sunday, June 30, in Deer Park. Suffolk County Police said the victim was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Corvette eastbound on Grand Boulevard when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree at the corner of West 11th Street.  Dominick Benedetto, age 51, of Deer Park, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152.

The crash happened around 9:20 p.m. Saturday, June 22, in Plainview. A 30-year-old victim was operating a 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound near Exit 46 when he struck the rear of a 2023 International tractor-trailer.  The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police Department Medic. Fatal Crash: 46-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Holtsville One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on a busy Long Island roadway. It happened around 6:20 p.m. Thursday, June 13 in Holtsville. Jared Rueb, age 46, was operating a 2005 Honda motorcycle southbound on North Ocean Avenue by Peconic Avenue, when he lost control and struck a curb, according to Suffolk County Police. He was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have not yet released Rueb's place of residence. It happened around 3 p.m. Friday, June 7, in Old Brookville. A 45-year-old man operating a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle traveling westbound, was involved in the collision with a 65-year-old man operating a 2022 GMC pickup truck traveling eastbound on Northern Boulevard near Hickory Road. As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police Medic.
