A beloved pizzeria employee is facing a long road to recovery after he was allegedly stabbed by a co-worker while on the job on Long Island. Sal Polizzi suffered repeated stab wounds to his side at the hands of 34-year-old Paul Albinagorta as the two worked the kitchen at Gino’s of Nesconset on Sunday morning, Nov. 24, according to the Suffolk County DA’s office. Polizzi fled the shop along with several other employees as Albinagorta allegedly chased them, threatening further violence, police said. Bicyclist Dies Weeks After Being Struck By SUV On Long Island
A bicyclist has died nearly two weeks after he was struck by an SUV on Long Island. The incident happened in North Bellport, near the intersection of Post and Atlantic avenues, shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26. Suffolk County Police said a 44-year-old Bellport woman was driving a 2007 GMC Envoy northbound when she apparently suffered a medical event and struck a bicyclist crossing the road. Alert Issued After 15-Year-Old Girl Leaves Nassau County HS
Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing teenager from Long Island. Keyri Rodriguez, age 15, was last seen at Hempstead High School at around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, according to Nassau County Police. Relatives reported her missing that evening. She is 5-foot-7 and 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. No other details were given. Rodriguez was previously reported missing in September, and was located the following day. A New York City employee formally confessed to forging numerous doctor notes in order to dodge his work commute from Long Island. Alan Anderson, age 55, of Oakdale, pleaded guilty for possessing and submitting forged doctor notes to his employer in Suffolk County Court on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Prosecutors said Anderson, an employee at the NYC Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), submitted 12 fraudulent doctor notes between February and May 2024 in order to avoid having to commute to his scheduled in-person workdays in Manhattan. Stretch Of Long Island Expressway To Undergo Lane Closures
Upcoming roadwork could slow Long Island drivers. Multiple lanes of eastbound Long Island Expressway will undergo overnight closures in the town of Islip and Brookhaven beginning at 10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, according to the New York State Department of Transportation. Crews will close the right lane between exit 59 and exit 60 to facilitate the removal and installation of a new overhead sign.
