Smoke from the Jennings Creek Wildfire was wafting over portions of North Jersey, causing a rapid decline in air quality Friday, Nov. 15. : Big Purple Bud Bus Guy, Woman Arrested After Series Of Raids Across NJ, NY, Cops Say
The New York owner of a popular cannabis company known for its fleet of purple buses and vans was taken into custody, as was a woman, on Wednesday, July 10, following a series of raids across New Jersey and New York, authorities said. Searches on Bill Schlette’s Bud Bus Inc. locations Hewitt, Manahawkin, Keyport, and West Nyack, NY turned up $200,000 in cash, according to West Milford Police Capt. Parrello. Man Busted With Meth, Gun During Traffic Stop In Region, Police Say
A 22-year-old man was busted with more than two ounces of crystal methamphetamine and a loaded 9mm handgun during a traffic stop. The stop took place in Rockland County in Haverstraw on Route 202 around 3:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 31. The drugs and gun were found during a stop of Ethan Iglesias, age 22, of West Milford, New Jersey, said Chief William Barbera, of the Rockland County Sheriff's Office. Iglesias was arrested, processed, and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, April 4, said Barbera.

A 76-year-old woman who was struck by a sedan driven by an Orange County resident died shortly after arriving at the hospital, authorities said. Nina Weil was trying to cross Ramapo Valley Road near the intersection of Elm Street in Oakland, New Jersey when she was struck around 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10 by a 2006 Toyota Corolla operated by a 67-year-old Otisville driver, police Lt. The founder of a nature tour company operating from the Jersey Shore north to Poughkeepsie and southern Connecticut was found with 6,800 photos and 120 videos of child sexual abuse, an indictment returned by a federal grand jury alleges. Federal Homeland Security agents arrested Vaughn Tiedeman, 46, of Living Adventure Tours, in February on distributing child pornography charges. Greenwood Lake is New Jersey’s fourth to contain a harmful algae bloom this summer. Bacteria levels from the HAB are nearly 10 times higher than the state health standard, water samples taken Monday show. Cyanobacteria levels from the New Jersey side of the lake were 212,000 cells per milliliter (state standard is 20,000 cells per milliliter), DEP lab results show. The lowest sample taken showed 90,000 cells per milliliter, and that was taken from the middle section of the lake. Orange County Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash, Police ID
A 57-year-old Orange County man was killed in a motorcycle accident in New Jersey. Lance Poelmann of Florida was riding his 2008 Harley Davidson southbound on Clinton Road when he lost control negotiating a turn around 4:50 p.m. Sunday, May 19, West Milford police said.
