17-Year-Old Dies On First Day Of Varsity Football Practice In Hudson Valley A 17-year-old high school football player in the Hudson Valley following varsity football practice. Miguel Antonio Lugo, of Wallkill, died after Wallkill High School's first practice of the year on Monday, March 1, according to his family. A cause of death has not been released. The school's Athletic Department said: "There are certainly no words to reflect the feeling of heartbreak, loss, and tragedy that our community is facing with the passing of senior Miguel Lugo.  "Our deepest condolences go out to Miguel’s family. Port Jervis Native Matthew Gillis Dies At 25 Matthew Gillis of Port Jervis died on Saturday, Jan. 20 surrounded by his family at Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey. He was 25. Matthew graduated from Wallkill High School in 2011. He was the manager at the Quick Chek in Wantage, NJ for several years until he left on disability.  Matthew hobbies are golf, NASCAR, his favorite driver Martin Truex Jr., he loved his Ford truck, enjoyed spending time with his friends especially Dylan, he loved all sports and was a very outdoorsman.
