A powerful storm system bringing heavy downpours and damaging winds has resulted in numerous downed tree limbs, leading to road closures and more than 100,000 power outages in the Hudson Valley.

Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued By National Weather Service For Powerful Christmas Eve Storm
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement for a powerful system that will sweep through the area on Christmas Eve, bringing drenching rain, thunderstorms, and damaging winds that could cause power outages.
The time frame for the storm is Thursday night, Dec. 24 into Friday morning, Dec. 25.

Complex Storm System Will Bring Soaking Rain, Dangerous Wind Gusts, Wintry Mix, Snowfall
A complex storm system will sweep through the area, bringing heavy rain, dangerous wind gusts that could cause power outages, a wintry mix for parts of the area, and accumulating snow for others.
The time frame for the storm is Friday night, Dec. 4 into Saturday afternoon, Dec. 5.
Wind gusts will be between 40 to 50 miles per hour for most of the region. (See first image above.)

Storm Knocks Out Power To Thousands In Area
Thousands in the area have lost power as a storm system has brought heavy rain and wind gusts topping 50 mph to the Hudson Valley.
As of 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, Central Hudson was reporting 18 active outages that were impacting 1,035 customers: 624 in Ulster County, 180 in Dutchess, 125 in Columbia County, and 106 in Greene County.
A total of 2,678 of NYSEG’s 901,052 customers, including 1,229 in Dutchess, 420 in Sullivan, and 362 in Ulster, are without power.
Orange & Rockland Utilities were reporting 13 outages that were impacting 2,234 of its 303,406 customers.

Storm Knocks Out Power To Thousands In Hudson Valley
Thousands in the Hudson Valley lost power overnight as utility crews worked to restore hundreds of reported outages due to storms that brought whipping winds to the area.
At the peak of the storm, nearly 10,000 Hudson Valley residents were left in the dark as crews worked overnight to make repairs and turn the lights back on.
As of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, Con Edison was still reporting 89 outages, which were impacting 1,282 of its 3,535,450 New York customers, while NYSEG had 1,272 customers without power in Westchester.
