Double-Fatal Crash: Hudson Valley Men In 20s ID'd As Victims After Vehicle Hits Deer
Two men from the region were killed when the vehicle they were riding struck a deer and then a tree, ejecting both. The incident occurred in Sullivan County at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, in the area of 196 Rio Dam Road in Lumberland. According to Sullivan County Sheriff's Office Undersheriff Eric Chaboty, an investigation revealed that two men were riding a single four-wheel ATV westbound on Rio Dam Road when they struck a deer in the roadway. Chaboty said this caused the quad to leave the pavement and strike a tree. Upon impact, both the driver and the passenger were ejected. …

Missing Woman Found Dead At Bottom Of Cliff In Hudson Valley
A missing woman who had not been seen in a day was located by a New York State Police drone at the bottom of a Hudson Valley cliff. The incident occurred in Orange County around 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 27, at the Hawk's Nest in Sparrow Bush. According to State Police Trooper Steven Nevel, the 41-year-old New York City woman from Brooklyn, had been reported missing to the New York City Police on Thursday, Sept. 26. Truck Nearly Crashes Off Mountain Into River On Area Roadway
A dump truck driver nearly crashed off a mountain and into the Delaware River after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a rock retaining wall. The incident took place in Orange County around 8:20 a.m., Thursday, in Sparrow Bush, said the Sparrow Bush Fire Department. According to the department, they were dispatched to Route 97 in the area of Hawks Nest for an accident involving a dump truck with possible injuries. An extensive, multi-agency law enforcement investigation led to the apprehension of three alleged drug dealers who were busted with heroin, crack cocaine and cash in Orange County. Officials in Westchester County are attempting to appeal a decision by a state appellate panel who recently overturned a conviction of a man who fatally shot a Rockland County fugitive five years ago. Last March, Sparrow Bush resident David Carlson was sentenced by Orange County Court Judge Robert Freehill to five years in prison after he was convicted by a jury for his role in the death of Norris Acosta-Sanchez, who was wanted for having sex with a 14-year-old girl in Ramapo.
