A man and two others were busted on drug charges during a traffic stop in the region on I-87. The incident took place in Ulster County around 6 p.m., on Wednesday, April 12 on I-87 In Plattekill. Troopers from the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit were patrolling I-87 in the town of Plattekill when they spotted a 2010 BMW-528i traveling north in violation of numerous traffic laws, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Duo Busted With Stolen Gun, Vehicle In Westchester, Police Say
Two suspects are facing charges in Westchester after being busted with a stolen gun in an allegedly stolen vehicle, police said. In New Rochelle, the Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center alerted police in the city shortly before 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1 to a reportedly stolen car that was entering their jurisdiction from I-95. A man from the region with a pair of prior violent felony convictions is heading back to prison after being busted with an unlawfully loaded handgun and cocaine in a shoe left behind the scene of the crime as he fled from police, the District Attorney announced. Four Charged After Stolen Handgun Discovered During Traffic Stop In Area, Police Say
Three juveniles and an 18-year-old man were arrested during a traffic stop by state police when a loaded gun and a BB gun were found in a 2021 Nissan pick-up truck. The incident took place around 3 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 12 when state police stopped the vehicle in Orange County on Grand Avenue in Middletown. A 37-year-old man stopped for speeding on the Palisades Interstate Parkway has been sentenced to nearly a decade in prison after a loaded gun was found in his vehicle. Alfonso Cortez of the Bronx was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years in prison and two-and-a-half-years post-release for one count of criminal possession of a weapon following his May 18, conviction during a jury trial, said the Rockland County District Attorney's Office. A routine traffic stop in Orangetown by New York State Police could lead to 15 years in prison for a man convicted Monday on weapons possession charges, according to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe. Alfonso Cortez, 37, of the Bronx, was convicted by a jury on several counts of felony criminal possession of a weapon following his arrest on Sept. 19, on the Palisades Parkway in Orangetown, the DA's Office said.
