Trump Administration Can Withhold Grants To NY Over Immigration Policy, Court Rules
Millions of dollars in grants can be withheld by President Donald Trump’s administration over “sanctuary laws,” a federal appeals court in New York ruled.
The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan ruled opposite three other federal courts on Wednesday, Feb. 26, confirming that the president’s administration can withhold grants to New York City and seven states - New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Washington, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Rhode Island.

Popular grocery chain Stop & Shop is holding a series of job fairs to fill more than 1,000 part-time positions in the area.
Stop & Shop, which employs nearly 60,000 associates and operates more than 400 stores throughout New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Jersey, hopes to fill positions in the bakery, deli, grocery, produce, seafood and meat departments. Papaya-Linked Salmonella Outbreak Sickens 24 In NY
A salmonella outbreak linked to fresh papayas has sickened 62 people in eight states.
The fruits in question were sold in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania. So far, 24 people have been sickened in New York, 14 in Connecticut and 12 in New Jersey.
Twenty-three people have been hospitalized. No deaths attributed to Salmonella have been reported.
Illnesses started on dates ranging from Jan. 14, 2019 to June 8, 2019. Most illnesses have occurred since April 2019.
