Fiery Fatal Crash: 53-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Westchester Police are investigating after a middle-aged man was killed in a fiery overnight crash on I-87. It happened in Westchester just before 1 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10 on northbound I-87 in the village of Tarrytown. When New York State Police troopers arrived at the scene, a tractor-trailer was fully engulfed in flames. A preliminary investigation determined that the driver and sole occupant, Saratoga County resident Richard A. New TBZ Jumper Pulled To Safety By Officers Who 'Rappelled' Over Side, Police Say This story has been updated. A man who attempted to jump from the new Tappan Zee Bridge was rescued by troopers and a special police unit who rappelled over the side of the bridge and pulled him up with ropes. The incident began on the bridge in Southern Westchester in the area of Tarrytown around 9:20 a.m., Friday, May 27.
