A Long Island man faces grand larceny charges after robbing a gas station before leading authorities on a multi-county chase and fighting officers in Westchester, police said.
The incident began on Wednesday, March 1, around 5:15 a.m., when sheriff's deputies in Putnam County were sent to a Gulf gas station in Southeast at 1565 Route 22 for an armed robbery, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Police turned up something they weren't expecting in a quiet, expansive neighborhood in Northern Westchester, some 60 guns, and gun parts as well as a large amount of ammunition.
The guns were discovered in North Castle during a series of raids on Tuesday, Jan. 25, conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies led by the Westchester County Police following a six-month investigation into "ghost guns" and other illegal firearms in Westchester and Putnam counties, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police.

More than 100 firearms were seized and 11 people were arrested following a six-month, multi-agency investigation into “ghost guns” and illegal weapons in Westchester and Putnam counties.

There were nearly 300 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Westchester as the mid-Hudson Valley region looks to begin reopening economies as soon as next week.
As of Friday, May 22, 133,384 Westchester residents have been tested for COVID-19, with 32,767 testing positive for the virus, according to the state Department of Health. Since the outbreak began in New Rochelle in mid-March, 1,319 county residents have died from the virus.

Westchester is getting closer to entering phase one of reopening its economy due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as the overnight fatality numbers dropped to the lowest since the outbreak began.
There have now been 32,402 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Westchester, an increase of less than 100, though only 2,162 are active, as more than 30,000 patients have been treated or self-resolved from the virus.
